Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen has landed in UAE to undertake the broadcasting duties in the upcoming season of Indian Premier League and he hopes that his former side Delhi will clinch the IPL 2020 title on November 10.
Kevin Pietersen was commentating in the recently-concluded T20I series between England and Australia before leaving the shores of Southampton for Dubai.
Pieterson took to his official Instagram handle to post a photo of himself with the caption: “From a bubble in the UK to a bubble in Dubai…! I love that we have cricket back and as always very excited about working on the @iplt20. Who’s winning? I hope Delhi.”
Pietersen played for various IPL teams like the erstwhile Deccan Chargers, Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Delhi Daredevils, who were rebranded as Delhi Capitals last season, are the only team in the Indian Premier League to not have made it to the final. Delhi have made it to the semis/playoffs only four times in 12 seasons and have finished last in the group four times.
Under the guidance of Ricky Ponting and leadership of young Shreyas Iyer, Delhi Capitals have added firepower to their already strong batting unit by roping in the likes of Ajinkya Rajhane, Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis and Alex Carey. They have a strong spin unit in the likes of R Ashwin, Sandeep Lamicchane, Amit Mishra and Axar Patel.
Delhi Capitals open their campaign against Kings XI Punjab in Dubai on September 20, a day after the opener between holders Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
