IPL 2020 wasn’t the season we were expecting: Dwayne Bravo sends emotional message before leaving CSK camp

Dwayne Bravo reflected on Chennai Super Kings IPL 2020 season, saying their campaign, so far, hasn’t been what the players or fans expected. In an emotional message to fans, the CSK all-rounder said it’s sad that he had to leave the camp at this stage of the season.

Dwayne Bravo, as confirmed by CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, was ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2020 season due to a right groin injury. The West Indies star is expected to head home later this week from the UAE.

Bravo, in the message shared by CSK, urged the fans of the 3-time champions to keep supporting the franchise and expressed confidence they will come back stronger ‘like the champions’ they are known to be.

Marred by pull-outs and injury setbacks, Chennai Super Kings have struggled to find the right combination even after 10 matches into the season. CSK are languishing at the bottom of the IPL 2020 points table with just 6 points. CSK are in danger of missing out a play-offs berth for the first time in the history of the tournament.

“It’s sad news, it’s sad to be leaving my team CSK. To all our CSK fans, I want you all to keep encouraging the team, keep supporting, all the true die-hard CSK fans. This wasn’t a season we expected or our fans wanted, but we gave it our best. Sometimes, our best, the results don’t show,” Bravo said in the video message.

“Keep supporting us and I can guarantee you we’re going to come back stronger and better like champions. One of the most successful franchises, I feel we should be proud to be members and fans of CSK.”

Dwayne Bravo played only 6 matches for CSK in IPL 2020 as he had missed a few games at the start of the season due to injury concerns. Bravo has scored just 7 runs but picked up 7 wickets, delivering at the death in the limited opportunities he has got.

In the absence of Dwayne Bravo, Chennai Super Kings played Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood in the game against Rajasthan Royals on Monday which they lost by 5 wickets. Bravo had picked up the groin injury during CSK’s close defeat to Delhi Capitals over the weekend.
