MI vs DC, IPL 2020: Mumbai Indians are a team that no one else wants to face, says bowling coach Shane Bond

Defending champions Mumbai Indians have been better than any other side by quite some margin in IPL 2020. Therefore it was not a surprise that they were the first team to make it to the play-offs.

The team has been the most consistent side in the tournament with their bowlers and batsmen giving them the kind of performances that are expected from a good side.

Their batsmen have been in good form as well with Quinton de Kock, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav all having scored over 400 runs for the team.

Pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult have been phenomenal for the team, and they have been ably supported by spinner Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya.

Bumrah has taken 23 wickets and is second in the Purple Cap list, while Boult is not far behind with 20 wickets at the No. 5 spot.

“Our bowling line up is also as good as anyone in the tournament and I think we are the team that no one really wants to play because they know we play well and we can do some damage. We have won tight games and that makes a huge difference,” Mumbai Indians bowling coach Shane Bond said in a virtual press conference.

SRH game will not impact our morale, says Bond

The team, however, will be entering the first qualifier against the Delhi Capitals on Thursday, after a thrashing by the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday. They were beaten by 10 wickets by the David warner-led side in their final group stage match. But Shane Bond did not seem too bothered by the result.

“Obviously, we did not play well against SRH but it was one of those days where we knew we have qualified so the game did not have any impact on our tournament. I think everybody is excited about what awaits us against the Delhi Capitals and we are looking forward to it,” he added.

MI had also rested their key bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, and Bond said that the two are well-rested before Thursday’s important clash.

We had a very busy schedule and with back to back fixtures and then travelling so much we thought of giving rest to Boult and Bumrah.

“I think both of our boys enjoyed the rest and we now have our bowling squad and everybody has played a game so it puts us in a really good position,” Bond said.
